Stardate:2406.07.02 Cochrane Mission: Opportunities of Engagements/For are sins, Day 6. Stardate: 2406.07.02 (USS Cochrane - CSO Office - 2O/CSO Fugan B'lanor - 1250) "Here's the information you requested Fugan, seems a bit strange though ... why does a science officer of the Federation need cultural information?" "I am sorry old friend, i cannot tell you the reason." Fugan sipped his drink while compiling the notes he had received thus far, he turned and nodded to the human displayed on the computer terminal at his desk, a perfectly crafted display of Vulcan appreciation. "Ahh, i didn't think you would tell us, i'll find out soon anyway," the human smiled warmly however no sign of recognition was given by Fugan, this did not seem to bother the individual. "Yes, you were always the one with all the answers Alexander." "As i remmember i was the one with the problems, you had all the answers. Remmember that Romulan Commander on Talus VIII?" Fugans eyebrow rose briefly, "Of course, in excruciating detail." "I thought she had us for a moment, who would have thought you could do that with a shuttle. Mind you, if i didn't know you better i'd say you enjoyed stealing it, and that piloting was too uncontroled for a Vulcan." "It is good that you know me better then, is it not?" Fugans eyebrow rose again, however anyone watching may have thought he was supressing a smile. "Fugan you haven't changed one bit, it was good to see you mate" "As was it interesting to see you once more old friend, good luck with your ... endeavours. One last point, my piloting was logical and precise" "You always were too easily baited." Fugan watched the Federation logo return to his screen and began to dictate his message for the Captain and Tahl. Shortly after he sent the message his combadge chirrped, =/\=All senior staff, report to Deck Four General Conference room.=/\= ~I wonder what has occured to require an earlier meeting~ Fugan thought to himself as he made his way to the turbolift. (USS Cochrane - Conference Room - 1306) Fugan had considered the probable reasons for calling the meeting as he made his way to the conference room however was unable to determine whether an attack had been made against the diplomats or the vessel, ~logically i will be enlightened soon~ He entered the conference room to find several officers already present however neither the Captain nor Tahl had arrived yet, he collected a mug of Rijellian Tea from the replicator and took his seat. Their skin under normal conditions is pale blue in colouration however it is capable of altering pigmentation to reflect the emotional status of the individual, some Oatians are believed to be able to alter their skin colouration at will however information regarding such matters is unsubstantiated. [See Report of Ferengi Maurader Kl’pletz attached, Log of USS Griffon attached] The Oatians were once a highly advanced species possessing technology equal to that of the Federation today, however as their cultural development continued to expand they began to deteriorate substantially. As the species began to concentrate on developing new methods of stimulation they encountered the Hallonians who supplied the substance Halon in significant quantities as it was capable of inducing extreme physical and neurological pleasure within Oatians. While the substance was capable of significantly enhancing physical abilities and sensory sensations it also decreased the mental capabilities of addicted individuals and induced bouts of paranoia and violence resulting in the collapse of the Oatian Republic. Those Oatians who did not take the drug Halon retained their advanced mental capabilities however were enslaved by the addicted and forced to produce news means of stimulation. Approximately 8 standard years ago a civil war was fought resulting in the overthrowing of the addicted Oatian. Precise details are currently unavailable however most information would appear to indicate that a pre-Hallon colony was located by the addicted as they sought new prey for a hunt [See Oatian ritual: hunt of damned] The colony was affronted at what their race had become and initiated a battle to recreate their once great race, utilising advanced technology they overcame the addicted Oatian placed themselves as rulers of Oatia so they could guide the remnants of their race and return them to their previous power. [See Arrival of Oatiaz; literal translation – pure nobles] The arrival of Oatians from before their species deteriorated has resulted in several significant social changes within their society, firstly as the majority of the pure nobles were male the Oatians have become a significantly male dominated society with lineage traced through male members of a family. Also the lack of technology relative to their neighbouring species has provoked greater focus on mental and physical aptitudes of individuals, facilitating the development of advanced neurological control over body functions and physical abilities presently unknown. The Oatian are presently focused on returning their race to power, primary concerns are: the redevelopment of past technology through reverse engineering of the Oatiaz colony and other sites, elimination of remaining addicted Oatians and the termination of further Hallon to prevent past events reoccurring. Hallonians The Hallonians originate from a red star system approximately 12 light years from Oatia, Halloania is a class M planet orbited by three moons, the most significant of which is Hallon as the substance of the same designation is produced here through a combination of mineral substances and biological manipulation. The exact chemical composition is presently unknown within the Federation as the substance is heavily guarded due to regenerative properties within most species. The Hallonians are a feline species possessing fur over their entire body and retractable claws. The feline origins of the species has resulted in extremely developed senses of sight and smell and an unrivalled stability in most situations, these physical attributed often result in Hallonians serving as bounty hunters, particularly within the Klingon Empire. Their technology and culture is highly advanced however the species is considered relatively weak due to the limited population. Although this may in principle be due to the prolonged gestation period, the population growth is significantly hampered by the cultural tradition that only a matriarch of the family may bear young. Someone was trying to kill the Tahlmari family, and Captain Lowell was in the wrong place at the wrong time. But, of course if Captain Lowell was not there at that time, would the phaser gone off in the spaceship. Calvin was wanting a reply back from the captain making sure she was alright. Then the captain answered back to him, "Lowell to Capps, I'm fine, including the Tahlmari family. i will be there shortly once I get to my quarters. I would like to have answers and lower the alert status to yellow. Get a meeting ready of all senior staff. Lowell out!" Calvin again looked up at the security officer, and then looked back down at his own panel. "Aye Captain". Calvin pushed to a button on his panel to alert of senior personal." All senior staff, report to Deck Four General Conference room." Calvin was happy that everyone was ok, but not happy that the Captain wanted answers! "What type of modifications? I did read the reports about the projects but like you know. I like to be informed and know that everything is running smoothly." "Modifications are quite extensive and i will of course update the information previously uploaded to your private database, however modifications have been made to the shield emitters, engines and sensors to include the new gravimetric technology. Transphasic shielding has been installed in all supportcraft and final testing is underway for the Cochranes emmitters, unfortunately as i hypothised the Cochrane is significantly larger than the maximum mass which can be phase cloaked however the holographic projection system should compensate for this somewhat, howevers its capabilities are also limited by the Cochranes size. Half our torpedoe compliment has been uprated to feature transphasic capabilities with the remain half modified to include gravimetric engine modifications. The security department has received the last requisition of type IV phaser rifles and personal phase cloak emitters, i believe Mr Romonov is orgainising a training schedule for the new technology, indeed he seemed quite eager." "I know... Like a kid in a candy store!" She smiled. "Anything else?" "I will allow the science teams 24 hours recreational time as of 1400 with your permission, they have been working exceptionally in order to complete the upgrades before we reach the terminus of the river and i must admit i myself shall be meditating once my shift is over." "Myself look forward for some down time. I took an holodeck for that purpose." "Once the leisure time is complete i intend to increase research activity to ensure that we entirely prepared for the unknowns of the Beta Quadrant, planned developments include final integration of subsytems for the multi-purpose drones, continued research of the metrionic radiation and i also wish to comence development of a science-scout vessel. While the type 11 shuttle is adequate for science missions the science personell believe matters could be substantially improved and i am inclined to agree. The new vessel should incorporate the latest technological advanced and will also serve as a testbed for new research, the vessels will also relieve Cochrane support craft for other roles." "I want to see the plans of it, I might have somethings to add in it. Which reminds me that in the next couple of months I will be working on those new ninites that fell on are laps. Modification programs will be complicated but once it's done, it should prove a great asset for us." "I look forward to you input Captain, you have a most inventive mind. The naites will prove a timeconsuming project, the primary control subroutines alone will take several months to complete however once completed the possible uses are substantial indeed. I would appreciate if you could duplicate your research for the science department, and perhaps inform me of any progress?" "I will keep you posted. Who is next? As the door to the turbolift opened Tahl was all business. he steped ont the bridge and took command. The first thing he noticed were all of the solemn faces. He was sure they were for his benefit. After all that has happened since Calvin has came on board, he still has not meet Lt. Tahlmari. NRPG: Sorry if i offend you rank but I believe that a Lt. Cmndr if referred at Lt. Calvin was already turned to the Lt. and he stood up."It is a pleasure to meet you as well, sir." Tahl told the ensign that he would be switched to A shift, and have the rest of the day off after the senior meeting. Calvin had a little glow on his face, Calvin has been pretty busy lately, almost a warp core and a phaser going in overload- a possible murder attempt. "Thank you, sir, I only hope that I work up to your standards." Tahl replied back with, "Give me a report of our current status Ensign." "Sir, as for now, not much is going on, number of repairs are still being worked on, but all operations are up and running, except some engines. But he was right, she was going to have to broach the subjest with her mother. She rounded the corner of their corridor to see a team of security officers outside her quarters. The appeasomeone escort you to them.red to be directed by a big Klingon. She marched up to him. "Just the blazes is going on here?" she demanded. "Ms. Tahlmari," the Klingon said, with some relief, "I am relieved to see you and that you're safe. I am Ensign Tarz, and there has been an attempt on the life of your mother and sister. I'm certain that they had hoped to get you in there aswell." Drulie was staggered. She took a step back. "Mmy mother...?" she didn't finish her question. "Is just fine," Tarz reasured her. And your sister also. They are being kept safe. If you like I will have someone escort youto them." Druleans just nodded her acquiesence. She was in shock. ~They could have all been killed. Why was this happening? Who could be doing this? ~ She couldn't help but feel responsible, but could not say why. All she could feel was the despair of that she might have been alone in this universe. And poor little Sid. She must be a wreck. Druleana picked up the pace of the escort. The man didn't even look at her. But he was, as usual, his formal and pleasant self. A man that nice gave Karolyna the willies. It just wasn't natural. But he seemed to always be that way. And according to her husband, that's how he was in the negotiations, accomodating, but still strong and charismatic. When he finally left, with his son in tow, it left the three women alone. Lowell came over to comfort them."You will be safe here. I had put extra measures in here and the other quarters, the old FO quarters to be exact. My security personel will check your quarters, every inch of them. If you want to rest, you can you are welcome." As Lowell left the room Karonyla spoke up, "Will that room have enough room for myself and my children. I can only assume that it is, at best the same size as this one." Lowell came out of her bedroom carrying a clean tunic. "Madame, we must all make sacrifice and comfort can be one of them. I have talked to your son, and had to send him on some work but we had a good talk." The captain went to the replicator and ordered 3 meals. 2 stew and for herself a small steak and frize. The smell reminded Karonlya that she hadn't eaten in a while. her stomach grumbled and she headed to the table. "I must recomend your ship to my friends. It's not every day you are served lunch by the ships captain." "Sorry, I am hungry, I ate early this morning... eat up, it's an old family recipie and you are probably hungry." Karonyla looked down at the bowl of odd looking food. It appeared to be some sort of thick soup with big chunks of meat in it. She played around with it for a moment, then seeing that Sidress hadn't fallen over dead from eating hers, hunger took control and she dug in. It was surprisingly delicious. "It taste good Captain Lowell," said Sidress. "Call me Alexandra!" "I must admit that my daughter is correct, Alexandra," Karonyla agreed. "You say this is an old family recipe?" "Yes, my great grandmother to be exact. When I was ten years old, I researched through my family line and found a book of recipies. This particular one belongs to her, but others were older. "Before you go can I ask you one question?" "Go a head!" Alexandra was a bit surprised that Karonyla called her by her name but she tried not to show it. "You said before that you and my son are very close," she said, trying to phrase her question carefully. finally she just asked. "Tell me, what kind of a man is he?" ~Only that she wants to know!~ Alexandra walk back toward Karonyla. "Your son has a really big heart and he is brave. He is loving and caring and not afraid to put himself on the line. He is intelligent and he as the confidence and respect of the entire crew of this ship. We have been through a lot. He doesn't let anyone down, he fights. He was there when I needed him and I'm there when he needs me. He and I are a team." Karonyla looked at her daughter and then at Lowell. "You don't think much of me Captain, and I can understand that. But you must also understand that when you have a child, you have certain ...expectations. You want your child to be perfect, and when he isn't, even through no fault of his own, it can be hard to take. And in our society, Yil's afliction is very rare, and not truely accepted. We made mistakes, my husband and I. We put our disappointments ahead of Yil's well being. Perhaps one day we can forgive each other for our failings." "If that is a comfort to you, his affliction is probably an asset, and maybe what happen to him, made him grow up faster. I wasn't that easy myself at the same age. At the age of 17, they named me an archeological whiz. I have made a ton of discoveries and my mother and grandparents were scared for me going on by myself in space. When they heard that I decided to go at the academy, I think that they breathed for the first time. There's an expression on earth. I raised hell to find myself, I guess I did. He did the same too and here he is." Karonyla nodded. There was a small tear in her eye. "Thank you Alexandra, for being there for my son, when I was not able. Thank you for loving him." "You're welcome! Now I have to go." She watched as Lowell prepared herself. it was like getting ready for balttle. When she was ready to go she said, "He ask me to tell you this, I don't understand but he said that you would. "The enemy has been to my gate, and I have won the day. It is time to come together." I have to go, but I hope to see your daugher Drulie and Sidress there. If you want, you can come too." When Alexandra made that statement Karonyla caught her breath. It seemed he was ready to make peace. The single tear fell down her cheek. She smiled, "It was a lesson from his father. Tell him- I agree." At that Lowell left, leaving Karonyla to hold onto her daughter. The tears she shed this time were happier tears. She pulled her sister into the embrace. "I was so worried," she said. "As were we," her mother answered back. "We had no idea where you were." "I had just gone for a little wander around my dear brother's ship," Drulie lied, deciding that this was not the right time for revelations. "Are you sure you are both alright?" "Yes Drulie," Karonyla replied, "we are fine." (reply Sidress) "I'm so sorry Sid," Druleans looked at her little sister. "You must have been so scared." (reply Sidress) Druleana was inmpressed with her sister's fortitude. She was certainly growing up on them. And looking at her she could see why Grod would flirt with her. "Your brother has been taking good care of us," Karonyla said. Druleana scoffed, "My brother. That's a good one. The only person he ever took care of was himself." Karonyla put a hand on her daughter and they all sat down togethr. "Perhaps," she said sadly, "that was because we gave him little choice." Drulie looked at her mother with surpride. She had never seen the womanso vulnerable. "Do you know why your brother left us?" Druleana shook her head no. "Your father sent him away. We had been so absorbed by the stigma of his afliction that we failed torecognize his needs. How could we have made him feel any less welcome inhis own home." Druleana was surprised at what she was hearing. She had always known that there was more to that story thant they had been told, but she was certain it was all to protect Yldarim. Now she could see that it was to guard her father. She sat back in her seat her head swiming. Uncertain of what was going on she gave her mother a sideways glance. "What, exactly, are you trying to say mother?" "I'm saying," Karonyla said, "that we should make an effort to try and welcome Yil back to the family." Drulie was floored by this. Allow him back. It was unthinkable. He had abandoned them, aboandoned her. Now she was head of the Tahlmari empire. She had worked to long and too hard to fill the loss of Yldarim. She'd be damned if she were going to let him just waltz back into their lives and take over now. "Mother," she tried to remain calm, "how could we, how could he, just like nothing had ever happened." Karonyla sighed deeply. "No, it could never be like nothing had happened. Too much has happened to just let it be sweep into space. However, perhaps we can start anew. Besides, I'm not even sure he would still want to be a part of this family." Druleana nodded, a little relieved at that thought. Still, there was no telling what her brother was capable of. He was always so unpredictable as a child. It was always one of his drawbacks on Zakdorn. Of course, it seems to be a trait appreciated in Starfleet. The room grew quiet as they all sat, looking between themselves and the floor, wondering what to do next. (reply Sidress, any) (posted by Al Muir) Stardate:2406.07.02 Mission: Opportunities of Engagement/Four Our Sins, Day 6 Stardate:2406.07.02 (USS Cochrane - Bridge - CO Lowell - 1345) Alexandra arrived on the bridge and quickly gave a look around. She knew that they had 15 minutes before the delegates would come so they had to talk and fast. "Alright people, we had a warp core that nearly blew, and now a phaser with the lock out fused, how did it got to Karonyla Tahlmari's quarters. Where there any transporter activities? Were there any clues found in her quarters." Tarz look at Romonov who gave him a sign to move forward. "The forensic team when through every inch of the quarters. They found nothing. There was no transporter activity on board the Cochrane in or out, and nothing that we could detect. No reminescent radiation... this was the work of a professional. If it would have come in the middle of the night, he wouldn't have missed which indicates that are individual is impatient." (Reply from Romonov) "I would agree with this assessment, but I'm not happy at all with it." She look at everyone. "What else did you find?" "For the Warp core case. The body found was one of Lt. Moreau, I did a bit of research. He work on the shipyard that constructed the Cochrane, so he had access and knowledge." Alexandra check the recordes of the messages she had received. He hadn't sent any. "He didn't sent a message about his answer to stay or leave. He is one of the last half douzen that didn't which I would like to see after the delegate meeting." (Reply from Anyone) "Yes, that was my next question. What was found about them? Already have a few interesting things about them." (Reply from B'Lanor, and anyone) "Can't wait to read that one Lieutenant." She smiled and started to relax. "Which remind me that you will be with me with those delegates. Lt. Comdr. can I see you in my office for a minute." Alexandra saw the Oatian delegation coming in and stepping inside the main conference room. (USS Cochrane - ready room - 1355) Alexandra walk first in the office, feeling Tahl's eyes on her. She knew that what she was sturring him, but also that he liked it. She turn around too look at him. "It wasn't totally for you benefit that I am wearing this... It's more a comfort thing." (Reply from Tahl) "Actually, it's because of your mother, she wanted me to tell you this, that she agrees. I want you to have an eye on things and you can keep track of what is going on. Everything is will be recorded in there." (Reply from Tahl) "Anything to say to me before I got." (Reply from Romonov, B'Lanor, Tahlmari, anyone) (Posted by Laurence Durand) Stardate:2406.07.02 Mission: Opportunities for Engagement/ For Our Sins, Day 6 Stardate: 2406.07.02 (USS Cochrane- Deck 8, VIP Quarters- FO Tahlmari- 1345) Tahl sprinted down the hallway of deck 8, barely avoiding the people in the corridor. He saw the security team outside of his mother’s room, and his heart jumped. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to know what had happened. ~Damn the woman. Why couldn’t they have just stayed away. ~ Tahl pushed past one security officer, not paying attention to who it was. It was trying to push past Tarz that finally made him stop. The Klingon was an immovable object. Tahl looked around the room with great concern. Tarz saw who was trying to push past and stepped aside. Careful not to touch anything, Tahl wandered around, looking for signs of his family. How could he have failed them so quickly after being entrusted with their safety. Then he felt a hand on his shoulder and the warm familiar confidence. He had been to concerned to notice it before. "Your family is in our quarters... safe and sound." Tahl breathed a sigh of relief, and leaned back against a wall. He couldn’t believe, himself, how he had felt thinking the worst. “I couldn’t get any details on the way,” he said finally. “What happened?” "I'm not sure. One moment we were talking and the next Delegate Benz entered and warn us. I ask Prothal to take your family to our quarters and search for that phaser that I was hearing in overload. One of the security officers found it. The lock was fused. I used my combadge and Ensign Capps transported it outside the ship. I just came here to hear myself think." Tahl looked at the team of investigators going through the room carefully. They were not exactly being quiet. He smiled at the thought that this would let her “hear herself think.” “Not much thinking space here,” he said. “This Benz? That would be Ambasador Oltalz’s son?” "I don't know... we didn't have time to have a conversation. Let's get out of here and let them work." Tahl furrowed his brow, as he followed Alex out of the way of the investigators. As he passed Tarz he said, “Inform me the instant you find anything out.” Tarz nodded to him. Then Tahl returned his attention to Alex. “That’s strange. I was just at their suite and he ran out of there like he had something to do. If he knew about the phaser why didn’t he just tell me?” "Maybe he was afraid of the time... it did came close. I think that I broke the 200 meter dash running from this place!" “Using the comm. system is much faster than running through the halls,” he said, still huffing a little from his run, “I can attest to that. Still, it’s very odd. And how did he know about the phaser in the first place? Where is the Ambassador’s son?” "With your mother and sister. Prothal was rather imposing and he is with them right now." They were out and Alexandra grabbed his hand in hers. Tahl smiled at the thought of Prothall babysitting Benz and his mother. “Imposing” was not necessarily the right word, but it would do. There had been a story that Prothal had once killed a man just by looking at him. “Then they are all in safe hands.” He interlaced his fingers with hers. “We were very lucky you were with them.” "I want to know how this phaser got there but I doubt that we will find that out. What did you find with the Oatians?" They entered the turbolift and she asked for her private quarters and stopped the lift. "We can talk freely here about this." “Well I can tell you that they were a lot more cooperative than the Hallonians. The ambassador was very forthcoming. Almost too much so. And somethings I wish he hadn’t shown me. Apparently there has been a great deal of subterfuge going on during these negotiations. Spies are spying on their spies.” Tahl produced the package of photographs. “Their process for reproducing pictures is very primitive,” he said, “but still you’ll get the idea.” He handed her the package. "I can see that, but those could give a wrong sense about what is going. We know that something is going on, but what is the question?" Alexandra saw the picture of Tahl's older sister with Grod. "Humm!" Tahl new what Alex had gotten to. “Indeed he said,” feeling a bit embarrassed at seeing his own sister in such a compromising position, “that was my reaction also. You know I have to wonder about the need for such a level of surveillance.” "Something tells me that it shouldn't happen but now that it is there, it seems that your family is in the middle of a volcano that can go at any moment. We need to know more and the only way will be through your father's notes and the tapes. I really need to see them." Alexandra looked at Tahl with a smiled to him. “Funny, that’s what Ambassador Otalz said. I agree, we need to get those recordings. I already have Romonov working on it.” Tahl looked at Alex smiling at him. He smiled back her and then looked around. “What?” "Just my imagination playing tricks on me! The day isn't over and I feel that it will not end." She flipped through a couple of pictures and returned her gaze to him. “I know that feeling,” Tahl agreed. “This day can’t end soon enough, and it feels like it never will.” He looked back at Alex who was looking at him again. His smile grew broader. “What? You look like you want to tell me something.” "I love you! and I just discovered that you love your mother despite of everything. She loves you too you know." Tahl nodded, “Well, she has a funny way of showing it. I guess you never get over the desire to be loved by your parents. No matter what they do to you.” He looked more intently at Alex, “But I can tell you this, I love no one as much as I love you.” He looked around the small turbo-lift, and with the knowledge that they were alone and unseen, he leaned over and kissed her. Alexandra just let herself melt away in that kiss. Just enough to forget for a couple of minutes everything around them. As she held him, she relaxed. "Tahl, do you want to know what your mother is thinking?" Tahl gave a little chuckle. It was a strange moment to bring up his mother. “At this particular moment…” Then he realized that something was on Alex’s mind. “What is my mother thinking now?” "For one thing, she likes the knowledge that you didn't loose your "Sharp mind" and on second, when I brought up the subject that I thought I did tactfully, she nearly bit my head off. But what she said was that she would have thought that you should have fought your father's decision to leave. That's what hurt her the most, with the fact you said nothing to them." Alexandra backed just a little to look into his eyes. She wanted to see if he knew that. Tahl looked at his feet. Then he looked at her face. “Did she really tell you all that?” “When my father told me to leave it was really just the final straw. I was just tired of fighting. Fighting for simply my place in their world. It was clear to my 16 year old mind, that they wished I weren’t there. I hadn’t thought to fight it. I didn’t really want to fight it.” "I have to tell you something else... and that you might not like it but at the time I felt it was a good idea. My father always told me to try with people, but if it doesn't work to let it go and maybe later try it again." Alexandra took in a breath. "A month ago I sent your mother a letter saying basically what was going on with you. How you were doing? I never had a reply. The reason she gave was your father was in the middle of those negotiations. Two weeks ago, I sent a second later, I still didn't hear from your mother. From what I can deduce, your father knew about them because he wanted to see you, he knew about the 2 letters but probably said nothing to your mother. Neither of them knew that the other knew about them." Alexandra bit her lip wondering what he would say to that news. Tahl took a step back, “You wrote to my parents. You told them what was going on with me.” Again he looked at his feet, and suddenly he began to chuckle. “And neither of them thought to reply. Neither of them new that each other knew, but they could only think of themselves. That’s typical. Although, I suppose, they always had a good reason to stay away from me.” "I think that one didn't want to hurt the other Tahl. Right now, it's just too soon for either of you to be together but still. I didn't want to hurt you by doing this. I was well decided to write your mother 3 times a year, I even sent her pictures of your birthday party. I was just trying to create a connection. I guess that I failed." Alexandra turned away and look at the wall. Tahl went over to her. To her surprise he was smiling. He wrapped her up in his arms and nuzzled into her hair. “No my love, you have not failed. You simply tried. It seems that you were the only one willing to try. And if it weren’t for your efforts, my father would have died, and I would never have seen him again. My mother and I would never have an opportunity to work our problems out. And best of all, I would never have gotten to know my little sister.” He chuckled again as he flipped through the pictures in Alex’s hand, “Of course, I never would have gotten to see that side of Drulie. And I could have lived with that.” Alexandra was happy that he felt this way, and she felt that she did her job but it wasn't over and she knew that she would have a lot of mediation to do between the two. "Okay, so I guess we have to go back to work and we will have a meeting soon just before I meet those delegates in the same room. I would like to see your sisters and what will happen recorded. I would suggest that you go to the bridge. I will go see how your mother is doing and once I'm back you can go see them. Your old FO quarters are being furnished right now, I want your family close for at least today. We have another meeting at 1600 hrs in Geneva also." Alexandra leaned over to Tahl. Tahl shook his head, “Yet another meeting. Alex,” he said pulling her close, “you are amazing.” He kissed her long and passionately. Then he looked thoughtful for a moment. “You want to give my mother a glimmer of hope? Tell her, the enemy has been to my gate, and I have won the day. It is time to come together. She’ll understand.” Alexandra welcomed the kiss. It was worth all the time off in the world. Then she wonder what he was thinking when he said that phrase. "Okay, I will tell her. Computer resume." and the turbolift speed away. She smiled Fugan noticed her visibly begin to relax, something he had not observed her doing for several days. "Which remind me that you will be with me with those delegates. Lt. Fugan watched the Oatian delegation cross the bridge to the conference room, observing each individual for anything which may be of benefit in the forthcoming negotiations. ~A fascinating species~ Once the Oatians entered the conference room Fugan transfered several relevant files to the conference room terminals and prepared a quick internal scan of the Cochrane, events of ther past few hours had dramatically increased the probability of something occuring during the meeting. Just after he finished the scan the Captain and Tahl exited the captains office, the Hallonian delegation also entered the bridge. "Well gentlemen... welcome to the Cochrane bridge." (Reply from Olga or any other of the Hallonian delegation) The Hallonians were obviously unhappy with something and they failed to hide their emotion to any extent, Fugan debated requesting a security team to be placed on standby outside the conference room however quickly decided that such action qwould only antagonise a delicate situation. ~Furthermore there a three CTAC/SC present, logically that should be sufficient to deal with any situation which arisies~ "Yes it is busy, we have a lot of work even when we are out in exploration or in stop like right now. Otalz settled himself more comfortably on the chair near the computer terminal currently displaying the communication with Otia, the first minister had a habit of being long winded and Otalz wished to be prepared. "I am afraid i have little time for formalites Otalz" The first minister appeared to lean forward in his chair to activate several nearby controls, "i am sending you the relevant information now, essentially Bartonz is now aware of the diplomatic talks ... he will attempt to bring an end to them if he has not done so already, be prepared." "I am meeting with the captain of the Federation vessel and her offciers shortly, i will inform them of the potential danger." "Very well if you believe you must, Oatiaz blessing Ambassador." There would plenty of time for clarification on some things while Alex was meeting wiht the delegates. when she asked to see him a moment his heart raced, and he flet a little temperature rise. As they went into the the ready room he caught himself giving her an approving once over. Seeing her in all of her splendor filled him with excitment and desire. "It wasn't totally for you benefit that I am wearing this... It's more a comfort thing," she said as she turned to face him. "But it was somewhat for my benefit?" he asked with a huge smile. "I know your time is short my dear, why did you need to see me?" "Actually, it's because of your mother, she wanted me to tell you this, that she agrees." tahl nodded. It was what he had hoped. She was ready for them to talk. "I want you to have an eye on things," Alex stated, "and you can keep track of what is going on. Everything will be recorded in there." Meanwhile, you may want to rely on someone who has prior knowledge of the negotiations." He could see that Alex was ready, and their time coming to a close. As she turned to the door she asked.
